Moonalice Single “It’s 4:20 Somewhere” Surpasses 100K Downloads
February 06, 2010

Band with no manager, label or publicist leverages Twitter/Facebook

To the astonishment of an entire tribe, Moonalice’s new single “It’s 4:20 Somewhere” has been downloaded more than 100,000 times since its introduction on November 13, 2009. Three-fourths of the downloads have been in the lossless FLAC format. Recorded, mixed, and mastered for a mere $5,000, “It’s 4:20 Somewhere” is available only on the web and only for free. The FLAC version can be found at http://moonalice.bit.ly/2uZpcYM.

Moonalice is a San Francisco band featuring John Molo on drums, Barry Sless on lead guitar, Pete Sears on bass and keyboards, Ann McNamee on bass and keyboards, and Chubby Wombat Moonalice on bass and guitar.

To celebrate the success of the single, Moonalice will launch the “It’s 4:20 Somewhere” tour in Seattle on February 17. Some shows on that tour will be priced at $4.20, including the giant Moonalice Tribal Pow Wow at Slim’s in San Francisco on April 20.

Moonalice invented the Twittercast concert, where it shares links to songs for an entire show, either live or after the fact. Moonalice has done 67 Twittercasts (and Facecasts, as the Facebook equivalent is known) and also broadcasts a song an hour over Twitter via Moonalice radio.

INFECTED MUSHROOM ANNOUNCE MAJOR APPEARANCES AT THE HOLLYWOOD PALLADIUM FEBRUARY 20, ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL MARCH 26 AND THE COACHELLA VALLEY MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL APRIL 18

“This is what happens when real musicians make aggressive dance music…Amit Duvdevani and Erez Eisen produce category-defying electronica that engages your cerebrum even as it kicks your gluteus maximus onto the dance floor…What ever expectations of ‘dance music’ you have, this CD will shatter them and make you thankful that it did.  A great ride.”
—Stephen Fortner, KEYBOARD, September 2009

Electronic-rock innovators INFECTED MUSHROOM have announced several high-profile performances and new tour dates for this spring as they continue to support their latest release LEGEND OF THE BLACK SHAWARMA (Perfecto).  For these dates, the INFECTED MUSHROOM band—Amit “Duvdev” Duvedevani (vocals), Erez Eisen (keyboards), Rogerio Jardim (drums) and Tom Cunningham (guitar)—promise an intense live show highlighting songs from the new album, plus material from their previous seven releases.

The psy-trance pioneers will make a momentous appearance at Awakening, a double-header bill with German electronic artist ATB February 20, at the Hollywood Palladium.  The band will also head to Miami where they will perform Friday, March 26 at this year’s Ultra Music Festival.

In April, the Israel-bred, Southern California-based outfit return home for their second appearance at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. The band is also scheduled to make stops at the Gryphon Nightclub in Hollywood, FL, the Fox Theater in Boulder, CO, San Francisco’s Regency Ballroom and many more on the extensive tour.  Tickets for these shows are available now.

On Legend Of The Black Shawarma, INFECTED MUSHROOM continue to push sonic boundaries with their psy-trance fusion of bruising, metallic rock and unstoppable dance-floor beats to a new level and sees the pair teaming with high-profile rockers.  The album’s lead single “Smashing the Opponent” features scorching vocals from Jonathan Davis of Korn fame, while Jane’s Addiction frontman and alt-rock trailblazer Perry Farrell lends his inimitable pipes to the follow-up track “Killing Time.”  Most recently, the duo collaborated with Matisyahu on the track “One Day,” which is now charting in the Top 10 in Israel.

Shpongle Announces US Tour in Support of New Album

SHPONGLE ANNOUNCES US TOUR IN SUPPORT OF NEW ALBUM

Shpongle, pioneers of modern musical psychedelia, will be on tour in the US from 4-16-10 to 5-8-10 to promote their new album, Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland.

Having recently released their long-awaited and much anticipated 4th studio album, Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland, the UK-based DJ/Producer Simon Posford (who, together with Raja Ram on flute, makes up Shpongle) will tour the United States from coast to coast this April and May, making stops in all four corners of the country along the way.  With the release of this album and subsequent tour, the internationally acclaimed electronica project have returned from what many fans feared was a void after the release of their 3rd album in the summer of 2005. Posford, the producer, multi-instrumentalist and driving force behind Shpongle’s exploratory odyssey and sonic oddity, will delight fans new and old with tonal textures that break boundaries of convention while at the same time harnessing the primal energy of sound.  Coupled with the richly evocative flute musings of Raja Ram, the Shpongle experience is one of both worldly and otherworldly roots.

Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland contains languages of harmonic and melodic construction that long-time fans will know and love, while taking massive leaps forward in terms of production techniques, structure and direction.  With influences drawn from Steve Reich to Big Brother TV shows and beyond, Shpongle continues to evolve and inspire.  All out Shpongle-mania has ensued for this album’s release, clearly demonstrated in October when the London launch party sold out and a second night had to be added.

For portions of this tour, Shpongle will be accompanied by a smorgasbord of artists including fellow Twisted Records alumni, Prometheus (Benji Vaughan, who, together with Posford constitute the group, Younger Brother), world-renowned digital media artist, VJ Zebbler and ArcheDream for HUMANKIND, an international theater company that merges ancient ritual with modern technology to unite, uplift and empower.  The experience is sure to enchant audiences with a visceral dance of psychedelic sensory information that can only be described as “…a strange hybrid of electronic manipulation and shamanic midgets with frozen digits squeezing the envelope and crawling through the doors of perception…”
